Collections: Pyrex Bowls

I got my first pyrex bowls when Hubby and I started antiquing a few years ago.  I was looking for mixing bowl since I bake almost every day.  I needed something sturdy and in multiple sizes.  I remembered my grandmother having a set of pyrex bowls and she loved them.  Yep, they were in a similar 70's color like I have today.

The bowls are a bit scratched but I don't mind.  I just think of all the cookies and cakes that have been made in these bowls over the years by previous owners.

I started to notice the Cinderella bowls.  I loved that I could pour batter out of the bowl into my baking dishes or on to the griddle.

Do you see the  baby in the fruit pattern??

I received this 3 piece Cinderella set from a family member.  She knew I collected it and that I love the color red.

I love that the bowls that I have all nest quite nicely.

Pyrex bowls are a bit pricey at our local antique stores so... I keep crossing my fingers for a good deal.

Next week, I will be sharing with your a collection that I started when I was quite little... it has grown by leaps and bounds in recent months.

As the holidays approach, my collection posts will be... about holiday themed collections. See you then!!

  2. You have a great start on a collection! I still have 3 of the 4 Cinderella bowls from a '73 wedding gift! Have managed NOT to start collecting them, but it sure is a temptation! The nesting ability is definitely a plus. I am baking madly for Saturday's church bazaar and almost all of my bowls will get a workout!

    1. I love the nesting ability of the bowls... saves on space. Good luck with the baking.

  3. I accidently collected Pyrex myself. :) I had a couple of the Spring Blossom that were gifted to me for my wedding back in 1971. I love the color aqua and a friend brought me an aqua Butterprint she picked up at a yard sale. From then on when I ran across them for a good deal I would pick them up. Now I have quite a few! I did not realize that there was a baby in that pattern. Crazy! The Friendship pattern, (red bird) is highly collectible and sells for a lot. So does the aqua and pink. I have just one of with the wheat pattern. I really enjoyed seeing your collection! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

    1. One of the antique stores that we go to had a pink pyrex under glass. I guess it is the most expensive one to buy. Only in my dreams! :)
